2. Acceptance of These Terms
These Terms and Conditions apply to your use of our website and to purchases made through it.
By accessing our website or placing an order, you agree to these Terms and Conditions, together with our Privacy Policy, Shipping Policy and Refund Policy.
Please read these terms carefully before placing an order. If you do not agree with them, you should not use the website or place an order.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
3. Eligibility to Purchase
You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into a binding contract to place an order through our website.
You are responsible for ensuring that the information you provide, including your name, billing address, delivery address and payment details, is complete and accurate.
4. Products and Descriptions
We take reasonable care to describe and photograph our jewellery accurately.
Because gemstones are natural materials, variations in colour, clarity, inclusions, shape and appearance are normal. The appearance of jewellery may also vary slightly depending on lighting, photography and the screen used to view the product.
Unless expressly stated otherwise:
-
Gemstone and diamond weights are approximate.
-
Dimensions and total jewellery weights are approximate.
-
Products described as natural contain natural gemstones or diamonds.
-
Treatments will be disclosed where they are known and relevant.
-
Precious metals will be described according to their stated fineness.
-
Jewellery will be hallmarked where required under UK law.
-
Antique and pre-owned items may display wear consistent with their age and previous use.
Any material damage, repair or significant condition issue known to us will be stated in the product description where reasonably possible.
Please contact us before purchasing if you require additional photographs, videos, measurements or a detailed condition report.
5. Gemstone and Diamond Certificates
Where a product is described as certified, it will be supplied with the certificate or laboratory report identified in its description.
Gemstone origin, treatment and grading claims are made using the relevant information available to us. Diamond and gemstone grading represents the professional opinion of the issuing laboratory at the time of examination.
Independent laboratories operate separately from Meralda Jewellery. We are not responsible for later differences of opinion between laboratories, valuers or gemmologists.
A laboratory report is not a financial valuation, and we do not guarantee that jewellery will retain or increase its value.
6. Prices and Taxes
All prices are displayed in pounds sterling unless another currency is selected.
Prices include VAT where applicable. Delivery charges, international taxes, customs duties and other charges will be shown or explained where relevant.
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, import VAT, local taxes or clearance charges imposed by their country.
We may change our prices at any time, but price changes will not affect orders that we have already accepted.
If a product is listed at an incorrect price because of an obvious error, we may cancel the order and issue a full refund.
7. Placing an Order
After you place an order, you will receive an automatic order acknowledgement. This confirms that we have received your order but does not necessarily mean that we have accepted it.
A binding contract is formed when we confirm that your order has been accepted or dispatched.
We reserve the right to decline or cancel an order for legitimate reasons, including:
-
The product is unavailable.
-
Payment cannot be authorised.
-
We suspect fraudulent or unauthorised activity.
-
There is an obvious pricing or description error.
-
Delivery restrictions prevent us from completing the order.
If payment has already been taken for an order that we cannot accept, we will issue a full refund.
8. Payment
Payment must be made using one of the payment methods available at checkout.
All payments are subject to verification and authorisation by the relevant payment provider. We may undertake reasonable fraud-prevention and identity-verification checks before accepting or dispatching an order.
We will never ask you to send payment-card information by email or through social media.
9. Availability
Many of our pieces are unique or available in limited quantities. Adding an item to your basket does not reserve it.
If an item becomes unavailable after you place an order, we will contact you and provide a full refund.
10. Delivery
Our delivery arrangements are explained in our Shipping Policy.
Delivery dates and times are estimates unless we have expressly agreed otherwise in writing. Bespoke, personalised, altered and made-to-order jewellery will require additional production time.
Orders are normally sent using a tracked service. High-value orders may require a signature and may only be delivered to the verified billing or approved delivery address.
Risk in the product passes to you when it has been delivered to you or to a person identified by you to receive it.
You must inspect the parcel promptly and notify us as soon as possible if it arrives damaged, appears to have been opened or does not contain the correct product.
11. Cancellations, Returns and Refunds
Returns and refunds are governed by our Refund Policy and your rights under applicable UK consumer law.
For ready-made products purchased online, you will generally have the right to notify us within 14 days of delivery that you wish to cancel your purchase. You will then have a further 14 days to return the item.
Returned jewellery must be unworn and undamaged and must be returned with its original packaging, certificates, documents and accessories.
We may make a reasonable deduction from a refund if an item has been handled beyond what would normally be permitted when examining it in a shop and its value has consequently been reduced.
The statutory cancellation right may not apply to:
-
Bespoke or custom-made jewellery.
-
Engraved or personalised jewellery.
-
Jewellery altered or specially resized at your request.
-
Earrings supplied in sealed hygiene packaging where that seal has been broken.
These exclusions do not affect your rights where an item is faulty, damaged, incorrectly supplied or not as described.
Full information is available in our Refund Policy:

12. Bespoke and Personalised Jewellery
Bespoke and personalised orders are created according to specifications approved by the customer.
Before production begins, we may provide drawings, photographs, computer-generated images, models, stone selections or written specifications for approval.
Computer-generated images and drawings are intended to communicate the design. The finished jewellery may differ slightly because of manufacturing requirements, gemstone characteristics and the handcrafted nature of the work.
The customer is responsible for reviewing and approving the design, materials, stone specifications, measurements, spelling, engraving and ring size before production begins.
Once materials have been ordered or production has started, changes may result in additional charges and a revised completion date.
Any deposits, staged payments, cancellation arrangements and estimated completion dates for bespoke work will be confirmed separately in writing.
Unless faulty or not as described, bespoke, engraved, personalised, altered and specially resized items cannot normally be cancelled or returned after production has commenced.
13. Ring Sizing and Alterations
Customers are responsible for selecting the correct ring size.
Please contact us before ordering if you require sizing advice. Some designs, gemstones and settings cannot safely be resized or may only be resized within a limited range.
Resizing or altering jewellery after purchase may involve an additional charge.
Jewellery altered by another jeweller may no longer qualify for any repair, return or aftercare offered by us where the alteration has caused or contributed to the problem.
14. Care of Jewellery
Fine jewellery should be handled and stored carefully.
Gemstones, settings and precious metals may be damaged by impact, chemicals, cosmetics, heat, moisture or inappropriate cleaning. Customers should follow any care instructions supplied with the product.
Normal wear and tear, accidental damage, loss, improper storage and damage caused by third-party repairs or alterations are not manufacturing faults.
We recommend arranging suitable insurance for valuable jewellery immediately after purchase.
15. Faulty or Misdescribed Products
If a product is faulty, damaged when delivered or not as described, please contact us promptly with your order number, a description of the issue and supporting photographs where possible.
Depending on the circumstances and your statutory rights, we may offer a repair, replacement, price reduction or refund.
Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other applicable consumer legislation.
16. Intellectual Property
All content on this website, including our name, logo, jewellery designs, photographs, videos, graphics, text and website layout, is owned by or licensed to Meralda Limited unless otherwise stated.
You may view and use the website for personal, non-commercial purposes.
You must not reproduce, publish, distribute, modify, sell or commercially exploit our content without our prior written permission.
17. Third-Party Websites
Our website may contain links to third-party websites or services. These links are provided for convenience and do not necessarily represent our approval or endorsement.
We are not responsible for the availability, security, content, products, policies or practices of third-party websites.
18. Liability
We do not exclude or limit liability where doing so would be unlawful. This includes liability for:
-
Death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
-
Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
-
Breach of your statutory consumer rights.
-
Any other liability that cannot legally be excluded.
If you are a consumer, we are responsible for loss or damage that is a reasonably foreseeable result of our breach of these terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill.
We are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, losses caused by events outside our reasonable control or business losses arising from a consumer purchase.
Nothing on our website constitutes financial, investment or professional valuation advice. Jewellery, gemstones, diamonds and watches should not be purchased on the assumption that they will retain or increase their value.
19. Privacy and Cookies
We process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Our website uses essential cookies and may use analytics, advertising or other optional cookies subject to your choices and applicable law. Further information is available in our Privacy Policy and cookie settings.
20. Events Outside Our Control
We are not responsible for delays or failure to perform our obligations caused by events outside our reasonable control, including transport disruption, customs delays, industrial action, natural disasters, government restrictions, failures of communication networks or disruption affecting suppliers and delivery providers.
We will take reasonable steps to minimise the effects of such events and keep affected customers informed.
21. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms and Conditions when necessary to reflect changes to our business, website or legal obligations.
The version displayed on the website when you place an order will apply to that order. The date of the latest revision will appear at the top of this page.
22. Severability
If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force.
23. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may also be entitled to bring proceedings in the courts applicable to the part of the United Kingdom in which you live.
Customers outside the United Kingdom may benefit from mandatory consumer protections under the laws of their country of residence.
